Llandudno is one of the best places in North Wales for spring walks, with routes including the Great Orme summit, the West Shore coastal path and Haulfre Gardens. The Goat is a modern Welsh restaurant on Llandudno Promenade with a seasonal spring menu organised around Welsh-language categories - Bara (Bread), Bach (Small), Ôr (Sea), Tir (Land), Pridd (Soil) and Ochrau (Sides). It's an ideal spot for spring dining after a day exploring the North Wales coastline.

Llandudno comes alive in spring, with wildflowers on the headlands, longer days on the promenade and some of the finest coastal walking in North Wales. Every great walk deserves a great meal at the end of it, and at The Goat, our spring menu is inspired by the same landscapes you'll be exploring. Here's our guide to the best spring walks in Llandudno, each one paired with the perfect dish to finish your day.

Great Orme Summit Walk - Then Settle In with Something from Tir (Land)

No guide to walks in Llandudno would be complete without the Great Orme. This limestone headland rises above the town and rewards every step with sweeping views across the Irish Sea, Snowdonia and the Conwy Estuary. In spring, the Orme is home to nesting seabirds and rare wildflowers, including cotoneaster found nowhere else on earth.

It's a proper walk, too. The circular route from Happy Valley takes around two hours, so you'll have earned something hearty. Back at The Goat, our Tir section celebrates the land with dishes like Braised Short Ribs with potato, pickled red cabbage and broccoli, or the Belly Pork with pig's head and Kentucky fried king prawn, bold flavours built for big appetites.

West Shore to Deganwy - Then Taste the Sea with Ôr (Sea)

For something gentler, the West Shore to Deganwy coastal path is one of the most rewarding spring walks in Llandudno. The route follows the shoreline with views across the Conwy Estuary to Conwy Castle, and on a clear spring day, the light on the water is hard to beat.

A walk along the coast calls for seafood, and our Ôr section delivers. The Hake with chorizo, tomatoes, olives and orzo brings warmth and Mediterranean-inspired freshness. At the same time, our Fish and Chips, cod loin with triple-cooked chips, spiced goat sauce and tartare hollandaise, puts a modern twist on a seaside tradition.

Llandudno Promenade and Pier - Then Start with Bach (Small)

Sometimes the best spring walks in Llandudno are the simplest. A stroll along the Victorian promenade, out to the pier and back, is the perfect way to soak up the town's character. Spring brings a different energy to the seafront, fewer crowds, cleaner light, and that first real warmth in the air.

A lighter walk pairs well with something from our Bach section. The BBQ Scallops with Café de Paris, granola and caviar are a refined start, or try the Welsh Crab Crumpet with rarebit and poached hen's egg for something that feels unmistakably Welsh. If you're dining with friends, the Duck Liver Parfait with bacon jam and brioche is worth sharing.

Haulfre Gardens and the Happy Valley - Then Dig into Pridd (Soil)

Tucked into the lower slopes of the Great Orme, Haulfre Gardens and Happy Valley are two of Llandudno's best-kept secrets. The gardens bloom beautifully in spring, and the sheltered paths make for a peaceful afternoon walk with views down to the pier and across the bay.

After something this peaceful, earthy flavours feel right. Our Pridd section is rooted in the soil, and the Wild Mushroom Risotto, with pickled sea herbs and the option to add herb-roasted chicken, captures that grounded, seasonal feel perfectly.

Bodysgallen Estate and Woodland Trails - Then Share Bara (Bread) and Ochrau (Sides)

Just outside town, the Bodysgallen Estate offers quiet woodland trails with views across to Conwy and the mountains beyond. It's a lovely spring morning walk, and it's easily combined with a visit to nearby Bodnant Garden, where the famous laburnum arch flowers from late May.

A morning in the countryside sets you up for a relaxed lunch. Start with our Japanese Milk Bread with whipped miso butter from the Bara section, then graze through our Ochrau sides. Millionaire Chips with truffle and parmesan, Crab Fries with Halen Môn crab aioli, or the Walnut, Pear and Perl Las Salad. It's a relaxed way to dine and a great excuse to try a bit of everything.
